Some say that the word "day" should not be taken literally and each day of creation really represents thousands of years. They say this strictly as an attempt to make the Bible stories sound a little more realistic than they really do. Besides being unsupported there are a couple of problems with their claim. The Bible specifically describes each "day" as a 24 hour day consisting of a morning and a night. The Bible also states that Adam died when he was 930 years (Genesis 5:5) but also says he was created on the 2nd or 6th day. If each "day" was really "thousands of years" then Adam would have been well over 930 before he even left Eden. Besides, did God rest for the 7th day or the 7th group of thousands of years? The Bible clearly states a literal 6 days.

An ice core is a core sample from a polar ice cap. A recently documented three-kilometer long ice core sample from the Antarctic is now known to be over 750,000 years old. This single ice core sample proves the young earth concept wrong by over 744,000 years. The core is from Dome C on East Antarctica’s plateau and is only taken from a small portion of the polar ice cap of which is well over a million years old. Polar ice caps are constantly growing and accumulate layers of snow and ice every year. These layers re-crystallize and trap air bubbles with hydrogen and oxygen isotopes. During the winter when it is colder the snow layers have less of these isotopes than in the summer giving us a distinct pattern labeling each year just as the rings of a tree. Like a tree we can easily count the distinct layers to determine its age.

Through the process of cross-dating scientist look for marker rings that are isolated and far from normal size due to severe climactic events, such as volcanic eruptions. Volcanoes produce millions of tons of ash that lower global temperature and block out sunlight, producing well defined marker rings that reinsure the accuracy of cross-dating. Multiple samples are aligned to avoid possibilities of extremely rear “false” or missing rings providing a very accurate consensus. By matching up the distinct marker rings we can construct a continues tree timeline. The oldest known tree dated by cross-dating was discovered to have lived around 9,300 BCE proving that if that particular tree lived 11,300 years ago then Earth is obviously far more than 6,000 years old as the Bible claims.

Earth has been bombarded with asteroids, meteors, and comets in the past, hence the giant craters on the ground. One of the largest is the Chicxulub crater in Yucatan of which has a diameter of 180km and formed 65 million years ago. The energy released from the impact would equal 5.0x10^23 joules, which translates to 2,000,000 times greater than that of the most powerful nuclear bomb that was ever detonated. Even if some people miraculously survived the initial impact, the dust from the impact would have blocked out the sun for at least a few years resulting in no sunlight, no farming, and no food. If Man was around since the Earth's first week of existence like the Bible claims then they would have been killed off by this impact or at least the after affects.

The oldest known strands of DNA, as of July ’07, have been recovered from frozen mud at the base of Greenland’s ice sheet. This genetic material from pine trees, butterflies, and other organisms dates back 800,000 years. This surpasses the 400,000-year-old DNA from mammoths and other frozen animals in Siberia. It also surpasses the Bible's claim of a 6,000 year old Earth.
