It is no secret that the Bible is correct about a handful of topics and historically accurate in select cases but the Bible also makes many false and counterfactual claims. Having some truth only separates fiction from pure-fiction but does not make a book true. A book is only to be considered non-fiction if all of it, or at very least most of it, is true. That is why the Bible is in fact a work of fiction and why it should only be viewed as inspirational literature on par with Homer's The Iliad and Odyssey.
Exactly what we would expect
The scriptures that make up the Bible are exactly the type of writings we would expect to see if their contents were mere folklore and religions fables. There is no knowledge about the universe revealed in the Bible that was not already known to man. Instead it makes
false claims about nature that reflects man's mistaken beliefs at the time. Only the vague prophecies appeared to come true while the more
descriptive ones have all failed. There are several
false historical claims and the Bible also lacks consistency and contains
numerous contradictions.
But I Was Told...
True, it was written by people in 3 different continents but only in the small area around the Mediterranean sea were those three continents meet. The books in the Bible do all tell interwoven stories but that is because they are based off of one another. If you put all the stories of Greek mythology into one book they would also be interwoven and appear to tell one complete story. The Bible is also written in 3 different languages but that is because Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek were the well known languages spoken where the Bible was written. There is no reason to suggest that divine guidance was needed in its formation.
