3 things everyone must know...

1. It is not about religion
The issue is not a matter of religion or theism vs. atheism. It is a matter of society making it socially acceptable to take the contents of a book as inerrant, including its falsehoods and immoral claims.

2. But the Bible doesn't say to...
The atrocities are not due to what the Bible does or does not order, but what it claims. For example, the Bible does not order us to attack gay rights but it does claim that there is a such thing as a soul, Hell, Heaven, and sin. If the Bible were inerrant then the moral thing would be to prevent homosexuality to save people from what the Bible claims is a sin so they can have eternal happiness in Heaven.

3. They are not bad people
Bad people will continue to do bad things but these are not bad people. The people who commit and support these atrocities are good people who are only trying to do what they misguidedly believe is right based on believing the Bible is inerrant.

Why don't all
Christians do these things?

Why are there so many people who believe the Bible is inerrant yet don't attack gay marriage, attack freedom of choice, trust faith healing, etc? All Christians consciously or subconsciously select what parts of the Bible to actually believe in and what parts to ignore. Although they claim that the Bible is inerrant and thus an ideal source of truth they still only look to sections related to the topic they are seeking truth on.

Can you have
Christianity without the Bible?

No, Christianity is based upon the teachings of Jesus Christ who, along with his teachings, is based upon the texts found in the Bible. Although there may have been a non christ Jesus figure who existed outside of the Bible we know nothing about him and especially do not know any of his possible teachings.

Note: Granted you could follow the non canonical religious Christian texts so technically you could have Christianity without the Bible but not without use of Christian scriptures.

But Isn't
Christianity Good?

The Bible, the bases of Christianity, preaches both moral and immoral acts. Christians who only follow the moral teachings are basing their decisions and motives on a source outside of Christianity since they do not subject themselves to all that Christianity teaches. Christianity only steals the credit when good deeds are done and we do not need it to do any such deeds. Christianity is useless when it comes to doing good and traditionally has a negative effect on societies. All Christians who do good do so because of Humanistic reasons, not because of Christianity.

Dogma Is Not
Limited To Religion

All dogmatic belief systems are dangerous, whether it is religious based or a dictatorship like the one seen in North Korea. The dogmatic belief system of Christianity may not be the only cause of suffering but because of its size it is the leading cause for the world's atrocities which makes Christianity the most harmful variable that is within our reach to influence and re-direct.

LOST FOCUS of REAL ISSUES
Christianity takes the focus off of real issues and problems by convincing people everything is either "just part of God's plan" or the lack of belief in their specific god is the only possible cause of problems. Furthermore the faithful turn to prayer instead of taking positive action.

DIVISION
Any belief system that bases authority as truth instead of truth as authority such as Christianity results in conflicting world views and causes division. Such believers only naturally feel threatened by those with apposing views.

Glorification of the "END TIMES"
The Bible based glorification of the world's final destruction places a dangerous impact on personal objectives, politics, and global conflict. 44% of Americans honestly believe that the end of days will occur within their lifetime and eagerly await it.

A LIFE WASTED
A murder is one who takes a chunk off of the end of your life, Christianity takes out chunks during your life. Being trapped by dogma is the submission of your life to someone else's claims. Human life is a precious and rare opportunity so don't waste it living someone else's life and don't let your life be wasted on lie.

LYING TO THE MASSES
At very least one should stand up against Christianity being preached as truth simply because people should not be lied to or taken advantage of.
