The SacrificeSin is merely not doing what the Biblical god Yahweh wants you to do. This is why your sins can be cleared simply by Yahweh/Jesus forgiving you. The church emphasizes how Yahweh loves us so much he sacrificed his ONLY SON so we can be forgiven of our sins. Is "only son" a big deal? Remember that Yahweh can magically create as many sons as he wants when he wants and he created Jesus specifically to be sacrifice. Besides, aren't we all his children? The important question though is why does a god need to create and sacrifice someone to forgive someone else? The tale is just the latest entry in a legacy of stories about sacrifices being needed to appease the gods that arose from superstition. |
The Trinity VersionThe Biblical god Yahweh had to send himself down to Earth to sacrifice himself to himself because it was the only way he could convince himself to forgive us all for our ancestors disobeying him once. | ![]() |
Did Jesus Die?Jesus was taken down from the cross early. Death from crucifixion takes several days but the gospels say Jesus was taken down from the cross after no longer than 6 hours. Mathew 27:46 says it was after six hours and Luke 23:44-46 says it was only three hours. Regardless of that contradiction neither 3 nor 6 hours would have been nearly enough time for Jesus to have died. The Bible even comments on this, in Mark 15:44 Pontius Pilate doubts that Jesus could already be dead so soon. Pilate is reinsured by a roman soldier that Jesus is dead but that same soldier was obviously a follower of Jesus as he earlier declared to believe Jesus was the "son of god" which simply mean "a person close to god".According to the scriptures there were two others also being crucified. The Roman soldiers had to break their legs to speed up their deaths before the Sabbath day. However they did not do this to Jesus because he already appeared to be dead. So how did Jesus trick people into thinking he was dead? It is not hard to believe that he only needed the soldier who was his loyal follower to convince the others but the Bible suggests another, more fool proof scenario. In John 19:29-30 visitors put a sponge covered in vinegar up to Jesus' mouth and after drinking from the sponge he immediately dies. The sponge Jesus drank from could have very well contained a liquid to subdue him. Was Jesus clinically dead when taken to the sealed tomb or did he just appear to be dead? It appears Jesus was not dead since the herbs Joseph of Arimathea brought to the tomb were aloes. These are healing, not embalming herbs. Many people confuse the term resurrection with life after death. It is a Hebrew idea and is the notion that someone is in the world of the dead then they resuscitate and come back. Resuscitation would be a more accurate description of what the Hebrew scriptures describe than the word resurrection. We do have many stories from both ancient times and modern where people appear to be dead but recover. This is not to suggest that it was all a big scam or trick. If a human did really collapse on the cross only to later be recovered in a cave then him and his disciples would have truly thought it was a miracle from their god. Especially during the ancient times. Even today, thousands have near death experiences in the US and see them also as miracles from a god. Regardless if it was a scam or not, this person now fully resuscitated faces a huge problem. He is still a wanted man. Did he ascend into heaven or did he really spend the rest of his life hiding from the Romans? The ascension does not actually appear in the original forms of any of the gospels. In the earliest version of the earliest gospel, Mark, there is no resurrection or ascension to Heaven. The gospel simply ends with the discovery of an empty tomb; it was not until 200 years after the supposed events took place that the resurrection of Jesus was added to later copies of Mark. There is one line in Luke that reads "and was carried up into heaven" but again, this does not appear in the older copies of the scriptures and was inserted in later copies. Mathew and John remain to have no mention of the ascension into heaven. Could it be that the image many Christians have in their heads of Jesus Christ being crucified, resurrected and ascending to Heaven is simply an exaggerated retelling of the collapsing and revival of a regular human? ![]() |
