Jesus Supports the Old Laws

Matthew 5:17-20 "Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished. Anyone who breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven."

Enforcing Them & Making Them Stricter
Not only does Jesus emphasize the importance of following the Old Laws but in the rest of Matthew 5 he adds to the laws making them even stricter! A murder is no longer just a person kills another in cold blood but anyone who even shows anger towards another is now considered to be guilty of murder. An adulterer is no longer simply a person who commits adultery but now anyone who is even sexually attracted to person they are not married to is considered guilty of adultery.

Jesus makes it VERY clear that he demands you still follow the Old Laws in Matthew 5:17. In Mark 7:10 & Matthew 15:4-7 Jesus even criticizes people for no longer following the Old Laws, particularly the one about killing your child for back talking. Furthermore Luke 16:17 says, "It is easier for Heaven and Earth to pass away than for the smallest part of the letter of the law to become invalid."

What the Bible says...
Most Christians claim the Old Laws don't apply anymore. They will refer to passages by Paul such as Romans 10:4, Galatians 3:23-25 and Ephesians 2:15 but ignore anything said by Jesus on the matter. Paul's writings, which never quote Jesus, do not support the Old Laws but then again Paul also does not support the belief of Jesus ever existing on earth in human history. Matthew and Luke on the other hand make it very clear that Jesus still requires his followers to obey all the Old Laws if they want to get into Heaven.

Does the Bible demand that the Old Laws are still followed? It depends on which parts you read. The real question is, does Jesus Christ according to the Bible demand that the Old Laws are still followed? Yes, he most certainly does!

Pick 'n' Choose
Despite the words of Jesus in the Bible some still claim the old laws don't apply to us anymore. If that is the case did you know bestiality (sex with animals) is ONLY forbidden in the old laws, Leviticus 18:23 & Leviticus 20:15-16? Are you now saying it is ok for people to have sex with animals? Are you saying that Leviticus 19:29 no longer applies and it is now ok for people to give their daughters up for prostitution? Is it now ok to worship other gods, commit adultery, steal and murder?

Who are you to pick 'n' choose which one of God's older laws you are now allowed to break and which one's others should obey? Some say the Holy Spirit guides us to make the right choice but what about those who choose the wrong laws to break or support? Your decision is based on your decision with no divine guidance so in the end you are putting your own decisions above God's word.
