Flat Earth
Throughout the biblical scriptures are undeniably constant clear descriptions of a flat Earth, just as ancient man at the time thought it looked like. First let’s take a moment to see how the people who lived in the location and time the Bible was written imagined Earth. They had a Babylonian world view, according to which the Earth was a flat disc floating at the center of a sea held up by pillars. At the rim of the sea stood great mountains and upon the mountains rested the dome of heaven. The dome was surrounded by more water and leaks were the reason for rain. As shown in diagram A this is how people living in the lands around where the Bible was written during the time it was written thought the world looked like.
Take a look at the Bible passages on the following pages and see if they describe what ancient man thought the world was like (diagram A) or if they describe what we currently know the world to be like (diagram B). |

Exodus 20:4 - "Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth."
This perfectly describes diagram A as it talks about heaven being above Earth, Earth being beneath heaven, and the water being under Earth. An above and below descript of Earths relation to the ocean and heavens doesn’t not match with diagram B. |

Deuteronomy 13:7 - "Namely, of the gods of the people which are round about you, nigh unto thee, or far off from thee, from the one end of the earth even unto the other end of the earth"
The term "ends of the Earth" is used a few times in the Bible. This term was used very literally back when man believed in a flat Earth with physical ends and was not just a saying as it is today. The saying actually came from this past misconception of the Earth before we knew it was a sphere. Mentioning “Earth’s ends” perfectly fits the description of diagram A but not diagram B since spheres don’t have ends. |

Deuteronomy 28:49 - "The LORD shall bring a nation against thee from far, from the end of the earth, as swift as the eagle flieth; a nation whose tongue thou shalt not understand"
Here the term "ends of the Earth" is used again and perfectly fits the description of diagram A but not diagram B since spheres don’t have ends. |

Deuteronomy 28:64 - "And the LORD shall scatter thee among all people, from the one end of the earth even unto the other; and there thou shalt serve other gods, which neither thou nor thy fathers have known, even wood and stone."
Here the term "ends of the Earth" is used again and perfectly fits the description of diagram A but not diagram B since spheres don’t have ends. |

Deuteronomy 33:17 - "His glory is like the firstling of his bullock, and his horns are like the horns of unicorns: with them he shall push the people together to the ends of the earth: and they are the ten thousands of Ephraim, and they are the thousands of Manasseh."
Here the term "ends of the Earth" is used again and perfectly fits the description of diagram A but not diagram B since spheres don’t have ends. |

Job 38:13 - "That it might take hold of the ends of the earth, that the wicked might be shaken out of it?"
Here the bible speaks of the Earth being taken by its physical ends and shaking so the wicked will fall out from it. Grabbing the physical ends obviously fits the description of a flat Earth and so does the rest of this verse. Picture placing toy soldiers on top of a flat record, hold the record by the ends and shake it so the soldiers fall out from on top of the record. This image perfectly fits with the description of diagram A. If the Earth in diagram B is shaken wicked people will not fall out from it, they will just fall and remain on Earth because of the gravity that comes with a spherical Earth. Have you ever seen people fall out into space during an earthquake? |

Job 11:9 - "The measure thereof is longer than the earth, and broader than the sea."
Here the bible is comparing the measurements of heaven and hell to the length of Earth. Length is a measurement used for flat objects fitting perfectly with diagram A. As most of us learn in elementary school a spherical object is measured using its radius or diameter. We cannot measure how long it is because it does not have a length, so diagram B is out of the picture. |

Proverbs 8:27 - "When he prepared the heavens, I was there, When he drew a circle on the face of the deep."
Here the Bible mentions the Earth as being a circle. Some may claim this points to diagram B because both a circle and Earth in diagram B are round. But diagram B is a round sphere, not a round circle as this verse mentions. A circle is actually a flat two-dimensional object so this perfectly fits the description of diagram A. This verse also mentions that the circle (Earth) was drawn on the face of the deep (ocean). This definitely and perfectly describes diagram A with Earth as a flat circular island sitting on top of the ocean. |

Isaiah 40:22 - "It is He who sits above the circle of the earth, And it’s inhabitants are like grasshoppers, Who stretches out the heavens like a curtain, And spreads them out like a tent to dwell in."
Again Earth is being called a circle, a flat two-dimensional object perfectly describing diagram A. Also it mentions that the Christian god sits above the earth. A sphere like diagram B does not have a top or bottom so you cant really say that something is above it. This is an extremely poor way to describe the relation of one’s placement to a spherical Earth. This is however a perfect way to describe the relation of one’s placement to a flat object like diagram A. |

Daniel 4:10 - "Thus were the visions of mine head in my bed; I saw, and behold a tree in the midst of the earth, and the height thereof was great."
In Daniel it is said that the king saw a giant tree at the center of the Earth. The center of an Earth like diagram B is not a place where trees would not be found; it is a molten underground core. Mentioning a tree at the center/middle of Earth works perfectly with the description of a tree in the center of a flat Earth like diagram A. |

Daniel 4:11 - "The tree grew, and was strong, and the height thereof reached unto heaven, and the sight thereof to the end of all the earth"
The tree reaching up to heaven clearly tell us that heaven is above Earth. As earlier mentioned this perfectly fits with the diagram A scenario. Also it mentions that the tree was so tall it could be seen from the ends of the Earth. The ends of the Earth, again, does not fit the description of Earth in diagram B but perfectly describes Earth in diagram B. Further more, it is telling us that the tree is so call that you can see it from anywhere on Earth. This is impossible with a spherical Earth; no matter how tall an object is you cant see it from the other side of Earth. If an object is tall enough you would however be able to see it from anywhere on a flat Earth like diagram A. |

Matthew 4:8 - "Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them;"
Just as Daniel 4:11 did, Matthew is mentioning an object so tall that it can be seen from all over the world. Again, no matter how tall a mountain is people on the other side of a spherical Earth like diagram B would not be able to see you on top of it. This clearly is talking about a mountain on top of a flat Earth like diagram A. |

Revelation 1:7 - "Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen."
Yet again the Bible is mentioning something so high above that it can be seen from everyone all over the world. Again this perfectly fits diagram A and is impossible with diagram B. St Augustine (354-430) and Martin Luther (1483-1546) both insisted the Earth had to be flat since otherwise people living on the underside wouldn't be able to witness Christ's descent on Judgment Day. |

Debunking Defenses
Some compare the King James version of Luke 17:31 that’s says, says “In that day, he which shall be upon the house top...” with “in that night there shall be two men in one bed...” from Luke 17:34. They claim these events during day and night are happening simultaneously, claiming it is only possible for day and night to happen at the same time on a spherical Earth. Yet the Greek hemera was used much like the English word "day." It can mean daytime or a 24-hour day. Not to mention many flat-Earth models had day and night occurring simultaneously at different points on Earth.Besides if there is ever a part of the Bible found that does support a spherical Earth that would not mean the Bible is correct about the shape of the Earth since so many verses say it is flat. If such a verse was found only that one verse would be correct about the Earth’s shape and the Bible would still be fallible because of its false claims of a flat-Earth. On top of that if the Bible said the world is flat and also says it’s a sphere would only add to the lists of contradictions.
